During our stay in Echigo-Tsumari we saw many Triennale artworks. Nibroll’s ‘A journey without distance’ venue Kamigo Clove Theatre contained many installations and was located next to the Hong Kong House exhibition space. In the mornings we had free time Moe drove us to Kiyotsukyo Tunnel to see the ‘Tunnel of Light’ and to the Museum on Echigo-Tsumari (MonET). SKANK drove us to Christian Boltanski + Jean Kalman’s ‘The Last Classroom’ followed by one of Boltanski’s newest works ‘Les Regards’.

Touring ‘A journey without distance’ from HIKARI studio Yokohama to Kamigo Clove Theatre was a big change in terms of the scale of space and introducing a new group of ensemble dancers. Sound and movement travelled differently. It was fresh every time for Emi and Anna, the dancing lilies.

On the way to Echigo-Tsumari we travelled with Kasagi san and Emi on local single-carriage trains. The Hoku Hoku and JR Iiyama lines were very cute. The trains drove through scenes of rivers, rice fields, cedar woods and tunnels. It was slow and beautiful.
