About
At the Seymour Centre in Sydney, Australia, David Kirkpatrick played a shortened version of the score he composed for ‘Shima‘ (another work by Murasaki Penguin), while in Kamakura, Japan, Anna Kuroda improvised based on the concept of shimmering. Anna’s performance was streamed live back to Sydney where the video signal was processed in real time to give her dancing a subtle translucence based on her pace of movement.
This new work, along with a showing of ‘Shima‘ and a short talk by the artists took place on the 22nd September 2011 as part of Underbelly Arts Unfolded – a showcase of performances from the Underbelly Arts Festival at the Sydney Fringe Festival 2011.

“The final performance of the evening came from Murasaki Penguin (dancer Anna Kuroda and sound and media artist David Kirkpatrick). Kuroda’s performance was Skyped live from Japan and, whether by accident or design, was a revelation. Kuroda is an entrancing and graceful mover, perfectly reflecting, as she describes it, ‘the shimmering of water’ with her body. This in itself is a hypnotic visual experience but when captured by Skype cam it became incredible, a spectacle of ghost-like blurred and flickering movement that was breathtaking.”

内容
シーモアセンター（シドニー）にてデイビットカークパトリックは’Shima’(ムラサキペンギンの前作品)の短く編集した楽曲を流し、その間鎌倉にいる黒田杏菜はコンセプトとなる波紋の動きを重ね合わせた。黒田のパフォーマンスはライブストリームによってシドニーへ流れ、映像のシグナルは同時に彼女の動きに合わせ、あいまいな半透明に変換された。
この作品は「Shima」の上演+短いアーティストトークも含めアンダーベリーアーツアンフォルデット(シドニーフリンジフェスティバル2011、アンダーベリーアーツ芸術祭からのショーケース)の一部として発表された。

その最後の演目となるパフォーマンスにムラサキペンギン(ダンサー 黒田杏菜,サウンドマルチメティアアーティスト デイビットカークパトリック)によるものでした。黒田氏のパフォーマンスはスカイプによって日本からの生中継で、偶然か計画かは別として、まさに事実として見せられた。黒田は魅惑的で優雅な動きをし、彼女の言葉を借りれば「水のきらめき」を彼女の体で完璧に反映しています。これ自体が催眠術のような視覚体験ですが、映像が催眠術にかかったような気を起こす。Skype カメラで撮影すると信じられないほど素晴らしく、幽霊のようにぼやけて、ちかちかと揺れる動きの光景に息をのんだ。
