About
Motion Theory 2 is a performative exploration between kinetic sculpture, sound, projection and dance. The installation exists by itself and as a performance piece. Inspired by the hyperboloid, the sculpture is centred around the act of opposing revolutions, where the intersection of lines creates hyperbolic planes. Rotation angles of each installation motor are decided by a wave motion algorithm. Target motor position values play a Max patch sound synthesizer with resultant sound controlling interactive projections. The dancer chooses their joints’ rotation, speed of movement and position in the space based on motor angles, sound pitch, note duration, and projected lines on the floor. The work explores the relationship between form, music and movement, and the underlying structure that binds them together. Motion Theory 2 is the second iteration in this series, originating from Singapore Inside Out: Sydney in 2017.

内容
Motion Theory 2はキネティックスカルプチャー（動く彫刻）、音、映像、ダンサーの動きが相互作用する作品です。ハイパーボロイド（双曲線の対称軸を中心に回転させた回転体 ）から発想をえています。彫刻は３つのモーターによって回旋し、多様な双曲平面を作り出します。回旋の位置・速度の指示は、波の動きをパターンにおこしコンピューターが信号を送ります。モーターが受信する動きはソフトウェアのマックスにも同時に送られパッチによって音の長さ・高低・空白が決められシンセサイザーの音になり、更にプロジェクターから床に映される無数の線は、音に合わせて動きます。ダンサーは３つのモーターの回旋の角度、音の高低と長さ、プロジェクションの線の動きによって、身体（主に両手首と足首）の関節の回旋角度、動きの速さ・強弱、空間に対する立ち位置を決めます。形・音・動きの要素を空間に対して互いに影響を受けながら結びつき動く展示・パフォーマンス作品です。 この作品は2017年のシンガポールインサイドアウト：シドニーで創作したMotion Theoryを発展させました。
